Get September 12 earmarked in your diaries because it promises to be a stacked day of sport.

For starters, heavyweight boxing legend Mike Tyson is making a highly anticipated return to the ring at the age of 54 - 15 years on from his disappointing defeat to Kevin McBride.

After losing 69lbs and getting himself in incredible fighting shape, 'Iron' Mike had been very vocal about his desire to get back into the squared circle and raise money for charity in the process.

Several opponents were mooted but it's now been confirmed that the Baddest Man on the Planet will be taking on a fellow boxing icon in Roy Jones Jr.

The eight-round exhibition bout, which will feature no judges and will only be decided by knockout, will take place in California.

The pay-per-view event is being billed as 'Frontline Battle' and will be streamed on Triller, with the multi-media platform also receiving exclusive streaming rights to a 10-part series revolving around the fight.

It's said a boxer vs MMA fighter will be on the undercard, and there will be "iconic musical performances" in the three-hour programme.

This whole extravaganza is poised to get under way at 1am UK time but it will the perfect way to top off an already brilliant day of football.

That's because the plan is for the opening week of the new Premier League season to take place on September 12. There's no word on fixtures just yet as they will be getting released just three weeks before the action resumes, but we know the campaign will also finish on 23 May.

Even with the events happening behind closed doors, it's a perfectly good excuse to be glued to the TV all day.
