Scotland really, really don't want England to win Euro 2020. So much so, one of their main newspapers have asked Italy to 'save' them ahead of Sunday's final.

England have the chance to end their agonising 55-year wait for a major international trophy when they meet Italy in the final of Euro 2020.

Gareth Southgate's heroes are just ONE game away from winning the tournament, but the thought of Harry Kane holding aloft the trophy has Scotland worried.

In particular Scottish outlet The National who have ran with a comical front page for their Saturday edition.

Italy boss Roberto Mancini is depicted as William Wallace on the front page, accompanied with the caption: "Save us Roberto, you're our... final hope.

"We can't take another 55 years of then banging on about this."

Of course, Scotland, who were making their first appearance at an international competition since 1998, failed to get out of the group stage.

They drew with England, though lost to Czech Republic and Croatia as they finished rock bottom of Group D.

England, on the other hand, topped the group, then beat Germany, Ukraine and Denmark to reach their first final since 1966.

Southgate praised the Three Lions following their semi-final victory and urged his players to conquer one more massive hurdle.

"I'm so proud of the players. It's an incredible occasion to be a part of - we knew it wouldn't be straightforward," he said.

"We said to the players we'll have to show our resilience and come back from some setbacks, and we've done that tonight

"The most pleasing thing is that we've given our fans and our nation a fantastic night, and the journey continues on for another four days.

"There's one more massive hurdle to try to conquer. Italy are a very good side. They've shown outstanding form and have defensive warriors at the back who have been through everything. It's something to look forward to."
