At this point you'd probably thought he'd called it a day but Samir Nasri could be set for a surprise return to the Premier League once his drugs ban expires next month.

The former Arsenal and Manchester City man has been serving a suspension from football from UEFA in relation to his infamous trip to see the "Drip doctors" in 2016 - with Nasri receiving 500 milliliters of hydration in the form of sterile water containing micronutrient component.

UEFA ruled that the practice carried out when Nasri was at Sevilla he received at the Los Angeles clinic fell foul of their anti-doping regulations.

He was originally slapped with a six-month ban but because of an unsuccessful appeal it was then extended to 18 months in August.

It scuppered a proposed move to Las Palmas after his contract from Turkish outfit Antalyaspor was terminated by mutual consent after playing just eight games.

But Nasri could well be back in England soon - with talk that Everton are showing an interest.

The free agent is able to train with clubs as of next month and Ian Ladyman from the Daily Mail says that Toffees Marco Silva has discussed the possibility of bringing in the 31-year old with his coaching staff.

Silva already has plenty of attacking options at his disposal in the form of Bernard, Richarlison, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Theo Walcott but even though Nasri would be a risk, there's no denying his qualities on his day.

For Nasri, the question marks have long been related to his attitude, work-rate and lack of consistency - but it's most likely that he would have to prove he has those skills by undergoing a trial with the Merseyside club.

Nasri is a two-time Premier League winner with Manchester City and has 36 goals and 38 assists in 215 appearances in the top-flight.
