The frightening front three of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane may well be the best in world football at the moment and they made an impressive bit of Champions League history last night.

Sadio Mane's opening goal at the Stadio Olimpico means the trident have scored a stunning tally of 29 goals in the competition this season - which is a record for a single Champions League campaign.

It eclipses the previous record set by upcoming final opponents Real Madrid, when their 'BBC' trinity scored 28 in their 2013/14 triumph.

Barca's 'MSN' ripped opposition defences on route to their latest European Cup success in 2014/15, with Messi, Neymar and Suarez notching 27 between them.

But it is the Liverpool lads who have knocked Ronaldo and his boys off their perch with a sensational run of form.

Though they did play two extra games because of the qualifying round against German side Hoffenheim, it's a remarkable goal total. Firmino and Salah both have 10 goals in Europe this season, with Mane one behind on 9 after his strike in Rome.

During 2013/14, where Real celebrated 'La Decima' - their 10th European trophy - Ronaldo scored 17, Bale chipped in with six and Benzema notched five.

Salah, Mane and Firmino's goals have been spread out better, and the trident will be out to score more against holders Real in the final in Kiev on May 26.
