Roy Keane Not Impressed With Jose Mourinho Despite Recent Upturn In Form

The Manchester United legend has very little time for the current manager

There's often very little time passes by without Roy Keane becoming irritated by something to do with modern football and it would seem as though even a lengthy unbeaten run and an EFL Cup victory cannot spare Jose Mourinho and Manchester United from the Irishman's firing line.

United are currently unbeaten in 16 Premier League games, a run that stretches all the way back to mid-October, when Mourinho's men capitulated in a 4-0 humiliation away to Chelsea.

The Red Devils' performances have improved considerably since that day at Stamford Bridge, although United still find themselves in sixth place in the league table. However, should they win their game in hand, this year's EFL Cup winners will be just two points behind second placed Tottenham Hotspur.

Yet, an upturn in form, which also includes advancement in both the FA Cup and Europa League isn't enough for Old Trafford hero Keane, who has little time for Mourinho, as he revealed during a recent fundraising event.

"I've very little time for Mourinho. I look at United and the run they're on now. They're sixth in the league. People are like, 'I can see progress' - [but] they're sixth in the league. They've beaten no one in three months.

"I judge United on the big games. Chelsea and one or two others are coming up now. If you want to play for United and be successful they are the games you have to be winning."

It's not just United who Keane has been unimpressed with recently, however, as Arsenal fans well know...

During the same interview, Keane did concede that he would like to see one of his fellow countrymen move to Old Trafford, when he suggested Everton full-back Sheamus Coleman would be well suited to the Theatre Of Dreams.

"I'd love to see Seamus at Man United. It would suit him down to the ground.

"Obviously, he's at a very good club in Everton. He isn't getting any younger. From a selfish point of view, from an Irish point of view, you want players like Seamus playing in the Champions League and getting a taste of football at that level."

There was still time for one last dig at his old club, though, with Keane remarking, "Saying that, joining United might not mean Champions League at this moment in time."

"If ya ever sign for United, tell that gobshite Mourinho to stick his EFL Cup up his bollocks, will ya?"

Coleman has been heavily linked with United in the past, although a move appears much more unlikely given how impressive Antonio Valencia has been in the right-back position, this term.

FA Cup quarter-final with Chelsea on 13th March aside, United don't face another top six club until Antonio Conte's champions elect visit Old Trafford in the Premier League in mid-April. So it looks like we'll be waiting a while longer to see if the former United skipper can be impressed by the current team.
