Aston Villa achieved promotion back to the Premier League yesterday when they beat Derby 2-1 at Wembley but the real winner in the play-off is undoubtedly Ross McCormack.
The Scottish striker hasn't pulled on a Villa shirt for 616 days and has spent the vast majority of his three years at Villa out on loan with four different clubs.
He's only actually pulled on the Villa shirt on 24 occasions, having been loaned out to Nottingham Forest, Melbourne City, Central Coast Mariners (playing up top with Usain Bolt) and most recently Motherwell, where he played just four times before the stint was cut short due to injury.
But despite not contributing in any way towards Villa's promotion under Dean Smith, the 32-year old striker's wages have increased to £70,000-a-week because of a clause inserted in his contract when he signed from Fulham in 2016.
He and his agents have well and truly played a blinder. They've also rather cheekily congratulated him on earning promotion despite him doing absolutely nothing to deserve it. You love to see it.
A footballer who once didn't turn up for training because his electric gates wouldn't open is now properly swimming in the money.
