Ronaldo Wants The Champions League To Be Renamed 'CR7 Champions League'

Interesting name..

Cristiano Ronaldo has raised the Champions League so many times, he wants the competition to recognise his efforts by renaming it after him. Modest as ever.

The name he's proposed; 'CR7 Champions League'.

Catchy.

The Portuguese superstar failed to add to his 15 Champions League goals against Liverpool, but did finish as the top scorer ahead of Liverpool pair Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah who both bagged 10 this campaign.

And it's the fifth time he's claimed the European title, four with Real Madrid and once at Manchester United in 2008.

Following his incredible success in Europe's elite club competition, Ronaldo hilariously suggested the Champions League should change it's name to 'CR7 Champions League'.

"Who was the top-scorer once again?" He said when speaking to reporters post-match via ESPN.

"The Champions League should change its name and call itself the CR7 Champions League... I've won five, top scorer again, I can't be unhappy at that."

Ronaldo is now the joint-second most successful player in European Cup history, along with 'Los Blancos' icon Alfredo di Stefano and AC Milan hero Paolo Maldini.

The prolific 33-year-old also threw his Real Madrid future in doubt immediately after Saturday's triumph - not for the first time, though.

He appeared to claim it may be his last Champions League with the club. But we all know how this ends.

But back to the name change - does 'CR7 Champions League' have a ring to it?
