Cristiano Ronaldo has boasted that a 25-year-old version of himself would have been worth a staggering €300m in today's transfer market.

The Juventus superstar, 34, was once the most expensive player in the world when he completed his stunning £80m move to Real Madrid in 2009.

But when he was asked what his value at the age of 25 would be in the transfer market now, Ronaldo told Portuguese channel TVI: "It is hard to calculate.

"If a goalkeeper is worth €75m, a player who has done what I had must be worth three to four times more. Easy.

"But I have no such illusion."

The Portugal captain, who completed a £99.2m move to Juventus last summer, brutally slammed the idea of defenders and 'keepers being sold at €70m to €80m in the transfer market.

Manchester United broke the world-record fee for a defender this summer when they signed Harry Maguire from Leicester City for £80m.

However, the former Madrid and United star felt the only exception of a big-money transfer this summer has been fellow Portugal international Joao Felix moving from Benfica to Atletico Madrid.

He explained: "It's hard to say how much I'm worth now.

"Today any player costs €100m. Joao [Felix] is a special case, but if you look at defenders and goalkeepers being sold for €70-80m...

"I don't agree with it, but that's the market we're in now and the times we live in."

Juventus will kick off their title defence on Saturday against Parma, and Ronaldo admitted that he wants to capture the Champions League trophy in the new season.

"My subconscious is working. I'm giving 75 per cent and no more than 100 per cent, but I'm still as motivated as I was on my first day," he said.

"I want to win everything with Juventus, the Champions League, of course.

"The 2022 World Cup will also be spectacular."

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner has also hinted that he could "leave" professional football as early as next year.

And he also shared how his son Cristiano Jr was shocked at the conditions he lived in when he was a teenager in Lisbon.

Would Ronaldo be worth €300m in today's market?
