There was pure anger and rage behind Romelu Lukaku's thumping penalty to level matters for Inter Milan against rivals AC in tonight's Coppa Italia quarter final.

Lukaku had a heated spat with former teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic at the end of the first half.

The two went head-to-head and were both booked by the referee but the situation wasn't diffused, with Lukaku still irate as the teams headed down the tunnel for half-time.

He was heard calling Ibrahimovic "a son of a b***h" and telling him, "f**k you and your wife" after claiming the Swede made a comment about his mother.

Ibrahimovic, having scored the opener in the first half, was sent off for a trip on Aleksandar Kolarov and later on Lukaku was afforded the chance to level matters from the spot after Nico Barella was deemed to have been fouled.

The Belgian came up with the most emphatic spot-kick of his career, leathering it in off the bar in the 71st minute. Clearly, that encounter with Ibrahimovic was still in the back of his mind.

Then, in the 97th minute, Christian Eriksen curled in a free-kick for a dramatic Nerazzurri winner in the derby at the San Siro.
