Forget Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku has named the player who'll help United chase down City in the Premier League.

United and City started the new league campaign in stunning fashion. Though Jose Mourinho's charges have faltered of late. They've dropped points against Liverpool, Huddersfield and Chelsea.

As a result, United are now eights points adrift of City at this early stage.

But Lukaku is confident of catching the league leaders, while pin pointing the return of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Swedish hero continues to rehabilitate his knee following the devastating injury he suffered in last seasons Europa League fixture against Anderlecht.

He's since extended his stay at Old Trafford, with Lukaku excited for his presence in-and-around the squad.

"It motivates me really, because he's another good player to add to the squad," Lukaku told Sky Sports about Ibrahimovic.

"When you face a team like us it's difficult for opponents. Ibrahimovic coming back will help us chase Manchester City.

The 35-year-old has been out of action since April, though he's eyeing up December/New Year for his anticipated return.

As well as talking up a potential mouth-watering partnership, Lukaku also spoke about the criticism he's been receiving following his mini goal drought.

"I think when I signed everybody was asking questions and I think starting so well surprised a few people.

"We are still in the early stages of the season and nothing is over yet. We can do much better than we are doing now," he added.

The Manchester United faithfuls will be hoping Lukaku can add to his seven league goals when they entertain Newcastle United on Saturday.
