Robin Van Persie Sends Message To Anthony Martial After His Hat-Trick Against Sheffield United

Robin van Persie has congratulated Anthony Martial after he ended Manchester United's long wait for a Premier League hat-trick.

The Frenchman bagged all three goals as United returned to winning ways with a 3-0 win over Sheffield United at Old Trafford.

Not only was it the first hat-trick of his career, he also became the first player to score a Premier League hat-trick for the club since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement in 2013.

The last man to do so was of course Van Persie, with the Dutchman securing title number twenty for United with a stunning trio of goals in a 4-0 win over Aston Villa seven years and 263 games ago.

The former Arsenal striker sent a classy message to the United No.9 after someone finally came along to "take the baton".

Martial took his goals tally for the season to 19 but hilariously forgot about the matchball at the final whistle. The former Monaco star had to be reminded by a United official before retrieving it from referee Anthony Taylor.

His impressive display in front of goal received praise from manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who liked the variation of goals from his striker.

"I'm very happy for him, the first two he's in the box ready for crosses," Solskjaer said, as per Metro.

"'We have worked a lot with Anthony on his movement in there and to be patient in there because he's a quality player who can drop out of the box and get some touches.

"But that's where you score the goals, and the last one of course was very nice combination play and a great finish. We work with the boys on finishing all the time.

"We could have scored more today, so we don't want to miss chances where we could score and Anthony was very efficient."
