Riyad Mahrez Thought Spurs' Title Collapse Was Hilarious

Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez has taken a sly dig at Tottenham Hotspur by naming the north London side's title collapse as his funniest moment of last season.

Mahrez's Leicester were locked in a surprise title fight fight with Spurs that went all the way until May, until Chelsea managed to stop Tottenham in their tracks at Stamford Bridge.

After throwing away a 2-0 lead, Spurs's draw meant that Leicester were crowned champions for the first time in their history and sparked wild celebrations at the King Power Stadium. It was one of the Premier League's all-time most memorable moments - and it apparently had Mahrez in stitches.

No laughing matter. Spurs didn't find their end of season collapse as funny as Riyad Mahrez did. (Image: PA)

Speaking to FourFourTwo, the Algerian said: "Funniest moment... I think when Tottenham were 2-0 ahead of Chelsea. At half time it was like, all the team came to Vardy's house and probably we are not going to be champions tonight. So I was like, what's the point of coming today? Then 2-1, 2-2, it was funny."

Mahrez and his Foxes colleague might not be hitting the same spectacular heights this season, but nobody will ever be able to take away his Premier League winner's medal.

Still, it seems a pretty harsh dig at Spurs. Hopefully he still gets a warm reaction when he visits White Hart Lane next.
