Giorgio Chiellini has likened the rivalry between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo to the one between Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.
Speaking after Juventus' 1-1 draw against Torino on Friday, the 34-year-old Italian centre-back believes that the two five-time Ballon d'Or winners have pushed each other to the same limits as the two tennis stars.
"We are fortunate to be living in an age where we can experience both Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi," he told Sky Sport Italia (via Football Italia).
"They are both world class, like Federer and Nadal, one seems better and then the other replies."
Ronaldo was the man of the hour for Juventus, stepping up and heading home an equaliser for the Old Lady against their Italian rivals.
Despite securing the Serie A title already, Chiellini said that his side haven't switched off and are already laying the foundation for the new season.
"This team has such heart and soul, as proved over the last two games. We played better than last Saturday, but ultimately we want to prove we are the best, that we deserved this Scudetto and can already start building up to next season," he explained.
"We don't go on vacation anywhere and, although we are perhaps missing something without the pressure for three points, we still showed determination and strength.
"Torino lost only one away match in 2019 and are still furious about it, so we knew they were going to be tough. They played with great determination and quality, so we did well to get this draw and, in the end, I feel it was the right result."
In other news, Mario Balotelli entered the ongoing debate surrounding Messi and Ronaldo and revealed why he would pick the Barcelona captain over the Juventus ace.
