It seems that barely a week can pass without Gerard Pique becoming embroiled in some kind of controversy that involves his pure, unadulterated hatred of Real Madrid.
So, when Real's players decided it would be a laugh to chant "Pique, b**tard, salute the champion" in the aftermath of their La Liga title victory at the weekend, it was expected that the Barcelona centre-half would react swiftly.
Instead, Pique's social media accounts remained unusually silent, with the World Cup and Champions League winning centre-half perhaps meticulously planning a comeback worth waiting for.

However, the comeback never came and instead, what we got was a surprisingly mellow and, dare we say it, classy response when Pique was interviewed by Spanish media outside an airport following a short trip to Italy.
It is believed that Dani Carvajal and Isco were the perpetrators who began the chant, but the former Manchester United man didn't seem too bothered by the inflammatory song, when speaking to AS
"No, I'm not offended at all.
"No one from Madrid has to apologise to me. I've already spoken to Dani [Carvajal]. It's normal, they were happy and that's that, they had to celebrate."

Los Blancos pipped Barca to the La Liga title on Sunday, following a 2-0 victory away at Malaga. It is the first time Real have taken the title back to the Bernabeu in five years.

Should Real emerge victorious from the final, they will become the first team to successfully defend the European title in the Champions League era.
We can only imagine what they will chant to Pique should they lift the trophy in the Welsh capital, next week.
