Any player who dares to voice the slightest displeasure about their current situation at a club is now castigated by fans with increasing regularity, nowadays, so spare a thought for Vedran Janjetovic, who has had to endure pretty bizarre treatment when he swapped Sydney FC for Sydney Wanderers.

After four years with Sydney FC, Janjetovic joined Wanderers and when the two A-League rivals met recently, Sydney FC fans decided to pelt the goalkeeper with rubber snakes.

Fortunately for Wanderers, Janjetovic made a string of stunning saves during the derby game, keeping a clean sheet in the process as two rivals played out a 0-0 draw.

Aston Villa began the trend when Fabian Delph returned to Villa Park with Manchester City, last season, and the bizarre new fad could continue if Dimitri Payet decides to show his face around the London Stadium during any West Ham home games in the future.
