Juan Roman Riquelme has proposed an interesting scheme for the national team.

Argentina suffered yet more international misery when they lost out to Chile in the Copa America final, it adds to the previous Copa American as well as losing the World Cup final to Ze Germans in 2014.

Since that agonising defeat, their influential and key man Lionel Messi called time on his international career as everyone from fans to politicians have urged the Barca star to rethink his decision.

As the board pick up the pieces, legendary midfield-maestro Riquelme entertains an intriguing solution to Argentina's footballing woes by making Messi pick the manager, heck, he even thinks they should ask him on who should play;

"In my humble opinion, they should ask Messi who he wants as coach of Argentina. The coach should put the team together with Messi, make sure he is happy because he is the only one who can lead us to victory. The coach should even be asking him who he wants on the team."

The 29-year-old already has a heap of pressure and burden on his shoulders, to add this pressure-cooker job on his plate would be asking a lot, even for him.

Or should they adopt this strategy heading forward? Sound off in the comments section below.
