During his 12 year association with Manchester United, Rio Ferdinand saw countless class acts grace Old Trafford (as well as more than a few flops) and, as a result, knows better than most what it takes to make the grade at the Theatre Of Dreams.
During a recent interview with Portuguese newspaper A Bola, Ferdinand revealed the player he would do anything to bring to Old Trafford were he a scout for United and it was a player the club scouted over 20 times, last season.

However, the player also ended up going to a club who had only scouted him twice. The player Ferdinand was talking about was of course Renato Sanches, who left Benfica for Bayern Munich, this Summer.
"If I was a Man United scout, Renato Sanches would already be at the club. I'd have dragged him by his hair and said 'let's go!'

"Renato is a modern player: Aggressive, strong, powerful, got technique, can shoot and pass. I like him. He's young, but takes responsibility."
Bayern's Sanches deal was a serious cause of consternation among United fans, who vented their frustration at the club's owners for failing to act quickly enough in signing the Portuguese youngster. It seems that Ferdinand shares those fans' frustrations, also.
