Rio Ferdinand has summed up Louis Van Gaal's Manchester United legacy perfectly following the Dutchman's sacking yesterday.
In the worst kept secret on Monday, news broke earlier in the day that the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager had been informed of his sacking by executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward.
But that was only confirmed by the club late last night as they released two statements via their official website - One from Woodward and one from Van Gaal, himself.
It's fair to say van Gaal will be remembered for his spell in charge of the English giants. He only managed to win the FA Cup and disappointed in the Champions League and Europa League this season before failing to finish in the top four of the Premier League. But he did usher in a new era of young players at the club, handing debuts to Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Timothy Fosu-Mensah and many more.
That's where former United defender Ferdinand believes van Gaal's legacy lies. A new manager can now come in and build on the youthful foundations of the current squad and help lead the club to more success in all competitions.
