Reports Claim Ryan Giggs Has Left Manchester United, Too

Has the Welshman's 29 year career at Old Trafford come to an end?

As if the news that Louis Van Gaal and his back room staff have been fired by Manchester United wasn't enough for one day, reports are now doing the rounds on social media that Ryan Giggs, the most successful player in the club's (and British football's) history has also departed Old Trafford.

Giggs has been with United for 29 years, serving as Louis Van Gaal's assistant manager for the last two. He retired as a player in 2014, serving as the interim player-manager for the last four games of that season, following the sacking of David Moyes. It is believed that Giggs has coveted the United manager's position for years and was hoping his stint as Van Gaal's assistant would stand him in good stead when the Dutchman eventually departed the Theatre Of Dreams. However, two years on and with Jose Mourinho on his way into the Old Trafford hot seat, it is clear that the Welshman isn't going to get his wish. Not just yet, anyway.

Despite the reports of Giggs' departure, Mourinho is thought to be keen on keeping the 41-year-old at the club in a coaching capacity, along with bringing Paul Scholes back to the club in a similar role.

Giggs won 13 Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three League Cups, two Champions Leagues, a FIFA Club World Cup and an Intercontinental Cup during his glittering Old Trafford playing career, which spanned a remarkable 24 seasons, a record breaking 963 appearances and 168 goals. In that time he also became the first player to ever win back-to-back PFA Young Player Of The Year awards while also lifting the PFA Player Of The Year and BBC Sports Personality Of The Year awards in 2009. He was named in six PFA Team Of The Years and was inducted into the English football Hall Of Fame in 2005.

Should the Welsh Wizard leave Old Trafford, though? Should Jose do everything he can to keep him around? Have your say in the comments section, below.
