Just like many, Cristiano Ronaldo has sent a heartfelt message to Sir Alex Ferguson who was rushed to hospital late on Saturday evening.

And what better way to remember their brilliant relationship by reliving the moment when Ronaldo had just won the European Championship, with Sir Alex waiting for him like a proud father.

Rumours began to spread about Sir Alex's health. Manchester United then confirmed the unfortunate news about their former boss.

He had emergency surgery and is now undergoing a period of intensive care.

United's official statement reads: "Sir Alex Ferguson has undergone emergency surgery today for a brain haemorrhage. The procedure has gone very well but he needs a period of intensive care to optimise his recovery.

"His family request privacy in this matter. We will keep Sir Alex and his loved ones in our thoughts during this time, and we are united in our wish to see him make a comfortable, speedy recovery."

The football community has reached out to the legendary boss, including Ronaldo.

The Real Madrid ace has often described his relationship with him like a father and son bond.

And that sentiment was perfectly captured following Ronaldo's success at international level during the 2016 Euro's.

After bagging a winners medal, former United star Ronaldo, as well as Nani, were congratulated by Sir Alex with a beautiful embrace.

Class.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo posted the following message to Sir Alex, accompanied with a picture of the pair: "My thoughts and prayers are with you, my dear friend. Be strong, Boss!"

Here's hoping Sir Alex pulls through!
