Remembering When Chris Smalling Attempted To Hit Juan Mata's Target

Chris Smalling trying to hit Juan Mata's target during a club challenge pretty much sums him up right about now.

Manchester United slipped up at Newcastle United after Rafa Benitez's charges sprung a surprise, beating the visitors 1-0 courtesy of a second half goal from Matt Ritchie who owns sausage rolls shinpads.

Smalling's partnership with Phil Jones was even branded as disastrous by former Red Phil Neville.

His positioning, defending and distributing was awful on Sunday.

Which leads us to his feeble attempt at hitting a target in a challenge.

Smalling, accompanied with teammates Juan Mata, Marcus Rasford and Paul Pogba, took part in a target game. He called his shot, before hitting it horribly wide.

Needless to say, the United boys broke into uncontrollable laughter.

With Pogba's "wow, wow" reaction bloody priceless.

Smalling's performance left little to be desired.

"They were making decisions that were strange. They were making decisions all day where you were thinking: 'What are you doing?'" Neville said on Match of the Day via Mail.

And, naturally, his shocking 90-minutes got United fans talking.

Poor game, Chris. Poor game.
