Alvaro Morata played just eight measly minutes of the Club World Cup Final earlier today but the Spanish frontman created footballing history.

Real beat Kashima Antlers 4-2 thanks to not one but three goals from main-man Cristiano Ronaldo as well as some helping hand from the referee for not sending off Sergio Ramos.

And even though Morata didn't directly contribute to any of the goals, he entered the record books. Why?

Well, Morata becomes the very first player in a competitive men's match to come on as a fourth substitute. After his heroics, Ronaldo was subbed off for Morata in the 112th minute.

The 24-year-old is a subject of the new ruling put in place by FIFA after allowing to trial the new law in certain competitions which was approved in March of this year.

It caught on quick - or maybe they forget - as the Japanese outfit themselves made their fourth change of the match, too.
