Thibaut Courtois has ruthlessly hit out at FIFA for being excluded in the nominations for the Best Football Awards.

The Real Madrid star has been snubbed of a spot in the nominations for The Best FIFA Men's Goalkeeper award.

Alisson, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Edouard Mendy, Manuel Neuer and Kasper Schmeichel are in contention to win the prestigious prize following their outstanding contribution for club and country this year.

As for Courtois' exclusion, he isn't surprised that he didn't make the cut following his passionate outburst at UEFA and FIFA.

He also said that he'd rather win the Champions League and La Liga than individual awards before pinning his comments against the football authorities as to why he's been snubbed.

The Belgium international said: "I'd rather win the Champions League and La Liga than win these awards.

"The Best thing doesn't surprise me, maybe because of my comments a month ago," he added. "I know my worth and that's more important."

Speaking after Belgium's UEFA Nations League fixture against Italy earlier in the year, he accused the likes of UEFA and FIFA of prioritisng revenue over player welfare.

"This game is just a money game and we have to be honest about it," said the 29-year-old.

"We just play it because for UEFA it's extra money.

"Look at how much both teams changed [line-ups]. If both teams would have been in the final there would have been other players in the final playing.

"This just shows that we play too many games."

The Best FIFA Football Awards will take place on January 17, 2022.
