Raul, widely considered to be one of the greatest players to ever play for Real Madrid, has had £8.3 million assets taken off him by the Spanish court, according to Spanish outlet El Mundo.

The report says that the former Spain international did not pay shareholders involved in a company he owns called Europa Scar Sport, with the figure standing at £6.4 million in unpaid payments.

A further £1.9 million has been ordered because of court costs and interest on the unpaid payments - bringing the total to £8.2 million.

The Spaniard claimed to not be fully aware of the facts in this situation, noting that his role in the renewable energy source company was minimal, placing faith in his management to run the operations. His mother and brother-in-law are both involved in the company.

His legal team are appealing the decision, claiming that the company has filed for bankruptcy.

It's certainly a sticky situation for Real Madrid's second highest all-time top scorer, with a second date court likely on the horizon as Raul appeals the sanction from Judge Carmen Perez of the Court of First Instance in Madrid.
