Onomah's wonderfully taken goal in the 49th minute put Fulham in the driving seat at the Cardiff City Stadium in the first leg of their Championship play-off semi-final on Monday.

He received the ball on the edge of Cardiff's box and shielded it away from the onrushing player before turning his man in superb style.

The 23-year-old then skipped past Sean Morrison and cut onto his right foot by beating another defender before completing the move with a great strike into the bottom corner.

Speaking after Fulham's victory, manager Scott Parker praised his star midfielder.

"He has scored some big goals," he said. "Josh is a young player who needed an arm around him, needed developing.

"He has had a few who recognised his talent like I did, I had him as a baby. I often say to players, when you are developing players a lot of it is a mentality as well."

The return leg goes down on Thursday at Craven Cottage.
