Nobody can deny that Bristol City gave 110% during their Carabao Cup semi-final against Manchester City.

Lee Johnson could have easily told his team to sit back and allow Pep Guardiola's side to dominate, but they provided a great attacking threat throughout - unlike many other sides this season.

It was a great advert for the Championship and plenty praised their efforts during the two-legged tie, but Manchester City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne wasn't exactly complementary about their style of play.

It took injury time goals in both the first and second legs for the Premier League leaders to reach the final but despite that fact, De Bruyne was quite dismissive about The Robins' attacking threat.

He stated that the Championship side played long balls throughout and his side should have won by more.

Perhaps the Belgian should re-watch the semi-final first leg at the Etihad, last month. Didn't Lee Johnson's team play attractive, free-flowing football in large spells?

In an interview with Sky Sports, De Bruyne said: "We are very pleased and we played a very good game. We didn't give them chances. In the end, we deserved to go to Wembley.

"They had two chances with long balls. It was a shame they scored twice. We were very good and we didn't give them opportunities. We scored in the last minute but I think we should have won by three or four."

"The way we played (was the most pleasing aspect). We came here and we knew the crowd would be up for it but we kept them quiet."

De Bruyne's interview certainly sparked plenty of reaction on social media:
