A veteran back line, to say the least...

Premier League side West Ham United have just announced the signing of defender Patrice Evra on a six-month contract.

David Moyes clearly wants an old head as we approach the nitty-griity stage of the season and with the likes 36-year-old Evra, Zabaleta and James Collins at the back, they certainly don't lack experience.

So naturally we decided to calculate the age of a potential back four and the numbers are shocking, to say the least.

With a combined age of 137, former Manchester United left-back Evra joins 33-year-old Pablo Zabaleta in the line-up, who has over 250 Premier League appearances under his belt.

34-year-old centre-back James Collins is another player with bundles of experience, clocking up an impressive 272 appearances for West Ham and Aston Villa.

Jose Fonte makes up the back four at the age of 34, a player who made 260 appearances for Southampton in a seven year period.

On Wednesday morning, the Frenchman underwent a medical before penning a deal and revealed his delight via a brilliant announcement video.

With the transfer signed, sealed and delivered; West Ham have unveiled him in true 'Irons' fashion. The club have created a film titled 'ForEvraBlowingBubbles', consisting of Evra blowing bubbles while hollering his mantra: "I love this game!"

Evra will sport Dimitri Payet's old No.27 shirt, and he's excited to return to the Premier League not to mention linking up with his former boss, David Moyes.

"I'm really happy to be a Hammer, to be back in the Premier League and I love this game!" he told the clubs official website.

"It's amazing to be back and I am thankful to West Ham for giving me the opportunity to do my job.

"When I wake up and know I am going to work hard, to have fun with my teammates and give my best on the pitch, I want to say a massive thanks to West Ham, to the Chairman, to the manager to all my teammates, who have given me a nice welcome, my agent and my brother.

"I'm just happy to be here, it's really simple. You don't realise how lucky you are and just to wake up this morning and know I am going to train with my new teammates made me smile!
