Will they be right?

Paul Pogba just fell short of the somewhat dreaded £100 million price tag in 2016 when he signed for Manchester United in a deal worth a reported £89 million from Italian side Juventus.

It was, and forever will be, one of the most talked about transfers in years gone by, but it still begs the question - who will become the world's first £100 million signing? and how soon will this deal come around?

According to researchers from Bwin, the company have worked out who will become the very first and they've really gone into the finer details to work it all out.

So what does the data say?

On their website, they have listed which clubs are most likely to be involved, the different factors we should consider (age, position, contract and traits) as well a number of other interesting statistics.

Bwin then ranked the 10 players they think 'are the likeliest' to break the record.

1. Pierre Emerick Aubameyang (Borussia Dortmund)

A proven top-level goalscorer who continues to find the net at a prodigious rate, the Gabon international turns heads like few others. He's in demand, reportedly unsettled and Dortmund won't have a better chance to cash in

2.
Harry Kane (Tottenham)

3. Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid)

4. Paulo Dybala (Juventus)

5. Neymar (Barcelona)

6. Marco Verratti (PSG)

7. Eden Hazard (Chelsea)

8. Philippe Coutinho (Liverpool)

9. Yannick Carrasco (Atletico Madrid)

10. Alexandre Lacazette (Lyon)

Thoughts on the list? Do you think Pierre Emerick Aubameyang will become the first £100 million signing or will Antoine Griezmann or Eden Hazard steal the crown?
