Ticket Prices For 2018 World Cup Are Extortionate

Fans are rightfully outraged

As if the thought of a World Cup in Russia wasn't unappealing enough, what with hooliganism, racism and homophobia still presenting themselves as major problems among the country's football fanbase, FIFA have today released the ticket prices for the tournament and, long story short, if you intend on taking in a spot of football in Moscow or St. Petersburg during the Summer of 2018, you're going to have to remortgage your house or sell a couple of organs.

The cheapest tickets available for group games will set you back $105 which, according to the current rates at the Bureau De Change, equates to £80. That's £80 for one of the worst seats in the stadium. As if that wasn't scandalous enough, any fans hopeful of acquiring a ticket for the final better have at least £348 in their bank account, as that's how much it'll set you back for one Category Three ticket. Or, if you're feeling more frivolous and want to chance your arm at landing a Category One ticket for the World Cup final, you're going to have to mentally prepare for being out of pocket by £841.

Needless to say, the responses to FIFA's announcement hasn't been particularly positive

Oh and, as if the prices of tickets wasn't eye watering enough, you'll still need to fork out for flights to Russia and accommodation plus food and drink while you're over there. We recommend watching England fail to get out of the group stage with a watery pint of Stella in your local.
