Tammy Abraham's old tweet has resurfaced online, and Liverpool fans are savagely bombarding it with messages five years on.

The 21-year-old failed to convert the decisive penalty in the shoot-out defeat to Liverpool in the UEFA Super Cup and the Chelsea striker's misery was compounded when his old went viral.

In 2014, Abraham posted a tweet mocking Liverpool's Premier League title challenge: "Sorry Liverpool.... So close but so far," he wrote on Twitter.

Of course, the Reds went on to lose the league title to Manchester City by two points in the 2013/14 season.

But Liverpool supporters took revenge on Abraham by remembering him of his tweet.

Abraham cut a distraught figure following his penalty, but Frank Lampard has told him "not to worry".

"It is part and parcel of being at the top level. We have to be very supportive," the Chelsea manager said.

"I've told him not to worry. I've missed penalties before, anyone can miss, but what I want to see is the confidence of a young player to step up.

"Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham added an extra dimension when they came on and were unlucky not to score. Tammy needs to keep his head up because that's part and parcel of being a top player," he added.
