It's the question on so many lips right now. Who will replace Jose Mourinho as the next permanent manager of Manchester United?

The club released a statement on Tuesday confirming the news that the 55-year-old has left the club with immediate effect following a highly criticised run of form in recent months.
It is believed that Michael Carrick will be acting as interim until a new temporary manager is appointed, with an external appointment expected within 48 hours.
So who's favourite to take the job?

Former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane, who is currently without a job, is favourite with many bookmakers to take over the reigns at Old Trafford, while Guus Hiddink and Antonio Conte are second and third favourites, according to Oddschecker.
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is way behind the pecking order at 20/1 with some bookies, which may surprise some.
Former Manchester United centre-back Laurent Blanc is among the favourites at 9/1, as well another former player Michael Carrick, who is 11/10 with some bookies.

Back in September, It was reported that United held initial talks with Zinedine Zidane to replace Jose Mourinho as manager.
beIN Sports claimed that the Frenchman has been in contact with United, with host Richard Keys confirming the news after their 3-1 defeat to West Ham on Saturday afternoon.
On top of that, French publication L'Equipe claimed that 'Zizou' was eyeing a move to the Premier League. Will it happen?

According to The Mirror, he's so prepared for getting the United job that he's put together a transfer wish list already.
The paper claim Toni Kroos, Thiago Alcantara, James Rodriguez and Edinson Cavani top the list.
It's an interesting group of targets, especially as most people would argue none of them is exactly what the club needs right now, even if they are all world class players.
