In his first press conference as Manchester United manager, an ambitious Ralf Rangnick opened up on the tactical approach he wants to bring to the club as he aims to help the team regain control of games.

It was announced earlier this week that the former RB Leipzig, Schalke and Hoffenheim manager will take over at Old Trafford on an interim basis following the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Rangnick, known in Germany as 'The Professor', is expected to manage the team until the end of the season having agreed that he will continue in a consultancy role for a further two years.

That being said, in an impressive 30-minute press conference on Friday morning, the experienced manager has recommended that the club continue working with him for one year.

It was a press conference full of confidence, ambition and passion from the 63-year-old, who said United's clash against Arsenal was exciting to watch but ultimately he doesn't want to see that as a coach.

He also opened up about the difficulties that Manchester United have found with sticking to the DNA of the club, as well as the club needing to find a new pathway.

Here are a few clips of Rangnick's press conference to sink your teeth into.

Rangnick, who labelled Cristiano Ronaldo as "too old" when he was at RB Leipzig in 2016, was certainly impressed with the five-time Ballon d'Or winner's performance against Arsenal on Thursday night.

"You always have to adapt your ideas of football - or your style - to the players you have available. Not vise versa," said Rangnick when asked how the former Juventus forward fits into his philosophy.

"When you see Cristiano yesterday in the second half, at the age of 36, amazing. Top professional. At his age, I have never seen a player who is still so physically fit.

"He is still a player who can easily make the difference. It is about how we develop the whole team, not only Cristiano.

"What I saw from Cristiano yesterday, he is more than willing to put his input into the team and his teammates will do the same."
