Raheem Sterling is constantly criticised for his lifestyle by a section of the media.

The guy blinks and headlines are written about him, but let's swerve from this unfair barrage of criticism and concentrate on the incredible impact he has on other people's lives.

Earlier this year, Sterling joined a campaign to find cancer fighter Damary Dawkins a stem cell donor., sharing a message to help the brave youngster.

"Guys this is very important we need to help this kid. At only twelve years old Damary as been fighting Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (a cancer of the blood and bone marrow) since he was nine." he wrote on his official Facebook page.

"Doctors have confirmed his only hope of survival is through stem cell treatment. The worldwide register has no matches for him, the problem here is that there are not enough Afro-Caribbean donors on the register.

"If you are of Afro-Caribbean descent please sign up to be a donor, you could be a match for Damary or someone else that needs your help."

The post was shared by thousands and months later, Sterling attended the University College Hospital in London on his day off in an attempt to lift the youngster, who is battling the disease.

The Manchester City winger played pool with the youngster, and met his family.

Sterling's attempt at cheering Damary up was successful. Beverley De-Gale, ACLT's co-founder, said it was the most excited she's ever seen him.

'Damary is the most excited we've ever seen him. To have a Premier League champion here to help with the campaign is like Christmas come early for him.

"'He's been trying to get over the fact that Raheem has come from Manchester after having a game in France earlier in the week specifically to meet him and help to find this donor.

"Damary came out of hospital last Tuesday and back here on Monday so they can start looking at his bone marrow to see whether or not he is in remission.

"He has to be in remission in order for the transplant to take place and the tests are next week. Once they have the results we have to be able to find that donor as soon as possible in order to give Damary a chance of beating this illness."
