Jeff Stelling And The Boys Are Back On Gillette Soccer Saturday

The day is finally here.

You know the football season is almost upon us when all you can think about is watching the lads on Gillette Soccer Saturday.

Jeff Stelling, the man who has single handedly carried Soccer Saturday to where it is today, will be back screaming at Chris Kamara this afternoon, hopefully.

The lovable charisma and personality of Stelling, who has warmed the hearts of millions around the country in recent years, will join Phil Thompson, Paul Merson, Matt Le Tissier and maybe even Charlie Nicholas, if he's got over the specsavers joke yet - if you know, you know.

Legendary Sky Sports presenter Stelling admitted that he was contemplating retiring from his position, but clearly he's decided to carry on. Thank god.

Considering you are basically just watching a bunch of blokes in a studio watching football, it's a show that shouldn't really work but it's captured the imagination of fans and is always must-watch TV.

There have been so many memorable moments, whether it's Paul Merson talking utter nonsense, Charlie Nicholas delivering the weakest comeback we've ever seen or Chris Kamara's many gaffes, there's never a dull moment in the show.

If you haven't had the pleasure of watching Stelling at his best, then take a look at this.

Eight years ago, on the 20th October 2007, we witnessed one of the 62-year-old's finest moments. After Middlesbrough was voted the worst place to live in England back in 2007, the Hartlepool-born Stelling produced one of the greatest rants ever seen on live television.

Here's a cartoon version of the scene. Amazing.

BRING ON THE BOYS!
