Portugal travelled to the Wanda Metropolitano on Friday to face France ahead of their upcoming Euro title defence.
However, Fernando Santos' men had to settle for a 0-0 draw on the night as both sides squandered chances to clinch a victory.
Ronaldo had his header fire wide and he also failed to take a one-on-one opportunity to open the scoring for Portugal.
But the 36-year-old Juventus superstar did impress fans when he showcased his blistering pace towards the dying stages of the match.
Ronaldo, who was stationed in the Portugal box, immediately started his sprint when his teammates retrieved the ball and launched a fast counterattack against Spain.
The Portugal international's hopes of testing Unai Simon in a late one-on-one battle to seal the winner didn't come to fruition as Portugal's move fizzled out in the final third.
"He is a machine," one Twitter user posted.
Someone else added: "Another reason why Cristiano Ronaldo is GOAT!"
A third said: "Wow, never seen something like that."
While a fourth simply wrote: "Ronaldo > [Usain] Bolt."
Santos admitted his disappointment at the full-time result, saying that the 2016 Euro winners have the "quality to improve."
The Portugal boss explained: "We can do better, I'll be talking with the lads and we have the quality to improve.
"They gave everything and it'll serve us well. We have the consistency to hope to win titles."
Portugal will face Israel on 9th June at the Jose Alvalade in Lisbon ahead of the start to their Euro 2020 campaign.
Santos' men will be in Group F alongside Germany, Hungary and 2018 World Cup champions France.
Portugal's first Euro 2020 fixture will be against Hungary at the Puskas Arena in Budapest on 15th June.
