Argentina Ready To Play The Most Attacking Formation In World Cup History

So much attacking threat...

Argentina manager Jorge Sampaoli is ready to attack, attack, attack at the World Cup this summer.

The former Sevilla manager is known in world football for his intense, pressing and innovative style of play, and plenty of excited Argentinians got a flavour of what they can expect in his opening match in charge: a 1-0 friendly win over Brazil.

Sampaoili then gave us all a rather shocking taste during a friendly against Singapore last year - the now famous 2-3-3-2 formation.

That's right. Argentina played with just TWO defenders, which certainly allowed the team to attack during the 6-0 victory.

The 2-3-3-2 formation could see LIonel Messi partner Sergio Aguero up top, while Angel Di Maria, Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain are also in contention to start their World Cup opener against Iceland.

It certainly leaves Sampaoli's side vulnerable to the counter attack and they paid the price during a 6-1 defeat to Spain in March.

But if it works, we could see the likes of Lionel Messi flourish in Russia this summer.

When you have the sheer amount of world class attackers at your disposal, is it really necessary to pack them in the starting line-up?

It this formation too much of a risk?
