Football fans collectively scratched their heads when Jamie Redknapp named the best central defender in the world.
The Sky Sports pundit was on hand for Sunday's Premier League fixture between Liverpool and West Ham United, attempting to provide some words of wisdom.
And it didn't take long for Redknapp to string together a questionable sentence.

He proceeded to call Virgil van Dijk the best central defender in the world, saying: "Virgil van Dijk is the best central defender in the world. This season we will see the best from him."
The Dutchman arrived at Anfield for a staggering £75 million fee in January, and has filled the defensive cracks in Jurgen Klopp's back line.
Despite doing this, fans aren't convinced with Redknapp's sentiment.

Here's some reaction from Twitter:
Sure, van Dijk is one of the best central defenders in the Premier League, but that's some shout to call him the best in the world when the likes of Sergio Ramos, Diego Godin and Raphael Varane, to name but a few, are all producing defensive heroics on a regular basis.
