Manchester United favourite Rafael has hit out at Alexis Sanchez for his extraordinary rant about the Old Trafford club.

Sanchez, 31, sensationally claimed he wanted to leave United and return to Arsenal after just one training session.

In a shocking confession, he said: "The first training I had I realised many things. home and I told my representative: 'Can't the contract be terminated to return to Arsenal?'"

Rafael, who enjoyed seven years at United, has since fired back at Sanchez on Instagram, replying directly to SPORTbible's post.

In response to Sanchez's comment, he said: "Maybe he saw a ghost and get scared that's explain why he play so bad every time."

Rafael left The Red Devils in 2015 when he signed for Lyon.

Sanchez, meanwhile, ended his United misery by completing a move to Inter Milan.

The Chilean also revealed he wanted his time at United to work out.

"I only have words of thanks to United for giving me the opportunity to defend the shirt," he added.

"It bothered me that things did not go the way I wanted.

"If the atmosphere had been more positive, it would have turned out differently. I tell it all now because I have already passed a period of learning as a player and a person. I would have liked to win everything."
