Tom Pope has made good on his promise to score against John Stones as the veteran striker has netted at Manchester City.

Pope, 34, described Stones as "weak as p**s" following his display for England in a tweet last summer.

And the Port Vale man is up against the England international for his side's FA Cup third round clash against City and he has backed up his controversial post by scoring a goal.

Needless to say, Pope's first half header became the talking point on the online football community.

"Stones no where," one social media user wrote while another tweeted: "Legendary ngl."

He's talked the talk, now he's walking the walk.

Pope's efforts were ultimately in vain as the Premier League outfit secured a spot in the FA Cup fourth round after beating Port Vale 4-1 thanks to goals from Oleksandr Zinchenko, Sergio Aguero, Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Phil Foden.
