Pep Guardiola's Sends Gary Neville A Bold Message In His Latest Press Conference

Just days after Sky pundit Gary Neville slammed Pep Guardiola for naming just six substitutes for Saturday's Premier League clash against Burnley, the Manchester City boss has responded in a bizarre press conference.

Neville called his decision "an absolute joke" and questioned where the youth was: "I was really hoping he wasn't going to give the answer that he did. I think it's a joke, an absolute joke." he said via The Mirror.

"If you are an academy manager or reserve team manager at Manchester City you must think 'I am wasting my time'. Forget the fact of how much money they've spent, six players on the bench is like a protest. I'm not sure why he is peddling this theme."

On Friday afternoon, during Pep Guardiola's press conference ahead of their game against Leicester City at the weekend, the Spaniard once again mentioned Neville and took a dig at the former Manchester United defender.

He confirmed that he will have seven substitutes this week and did it in a truly bizarre fashion:

Before last week's game against Burnley, Guardiola insisted that the club "don't have any more players", but surely a number of youth players could have stepped in?

"We don't have any more players, that is the reason why. We have one goalkeeper and five players. We could take one from [the] second team but they played a game yesterday." he said.

"We played two-and-a-half days ago. We felt two games in a row would be difficult [they] haven't had one serious training sessions with us."

City have been without David Silva, John Stones, Leroy Sane, Fabian Delph, Gabriel Jesus and Benjamin Mendy, but the lack of a youth player to fill the seventh spot meant no one was buying it.
