Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Edinson Cavani appeared to lock in a heated war of words after Manchester United conceded against Villarreal in the Europa League final.

The 48-year-old Norwegian's ambition to capture his first piece of major silverware as United boss was dealt a major blow in the first half at the Stadion Miejski.

Gerard Moreno fired his side into the lead in the 29th minute as Victor Lindelof failed to properly mark his man after a Villarreal free-kick.

United pushed for an equaliser before half-time, but eagle-eyed Red Devils fans spotted fireworks between Solskjaer and Cavani not long after Moreno's opener.

A furious Solskjaer could be spotted screaming from the touchline, which appeared to prompt a heated reaction from Cavani.

Footage of the incident has made the rounds on social media, with some fans claiming that Cavani told Solskjaer to 'shut up.'
