We can't handle the nostalgia...

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the famous mercurial boot, Nike have unveiled a new range which includes the legendary boots R9 Ronaldo wrapped around his neck in that iconic picture in 1998.

If you had to associate the Brazilian with any pair of boots, you would immediately think of the iconic blue, yellow and silver Mercurial's.

20 years after their original release, Nike are allowing you to delve into the archives and create your own boot with NIKEiD.

Ronaldo, who even described the '98 Mercurial boots he wore as having 'changed the game', ripped apart the competition at the World Cup with these stunning pieces of art.

Nike have put a modern twist on a number of their decorated boots in the past, but these look to be almost exactly the same - with the 2018 Mercurials looking as good as they did 20 years ago.

The colour scheme combination of silver, yellow and blue on the boots still live long in the memory, and the upcoming release take great inspiration from arguably the greatest of all time.

But away from the 98' Mercurials, Nike have unveiled a series of classic boots to buy - including my all time favourites, the 2006 Mercurial Vapor III.

They unveiled the collection earlier today on their official website.

Two-time Ballon d'Or winner Ronaldo told Nike that the boots "changed the game".

"I was part of the development of Mercurial since its beginning and that boot was at some point just part of my foot," he said.

"It was an amazing project to be part of and the results were wonderful - writing a new chapter in the history of boots."
