Manchester United's Paul Pogba Posts Powerful Anti-Racism Message

Paul Pogba has condemned the racist abuse he's suffered and insists he'll use the incident as motivation in a powerful post.

Pogba was subject to horrific racist abuse on social media after he failed to convert a penalty at Wolves on Monday.

He's now taken to Twitter to share a thought-provoking anti-racism message.

"My ancestors and my parents suffered for my generation to be free today, to work, to take the bus, to play football. Racist insults are ignorance and can only make me stronger and motivate me to fight for the next generation," he wrote accompanied with a picture of himself carrying a baby, next to two pictures - one of his late father and another of Martin Luther King.

On his midfield being targeted online, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: "Paul is a strong character - it makes him stronger.

"We have to do something about it and authorities have to do something.

"Social media is a place where Harry [Maguire] said people hide behind fake identities - it's not down to me to change it. We need to protect individuals and we need to protect people.

"When there are death threats and racism, that is serious. What can we do about it? We aren't going to ban our players on social media, we have to spread the good word instead. There is so much good on social media, but we have to stop those instances, definitely.

"You don't have to read it. When I spoke to Paul I didn't get the feeling he'd struggled with it and some, like Paul, become stronger with criticism. I enjoyed criticism [when I was playing] but when it's gets personal and gets to race that's different."

United slumped to their first defeat of the season at home to Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Patrick van Aanholt scored a last-minute winner to secure a memorable win for Palace after Marcus Rashford missed a penalty - the second spot-kick United have missed this week after Pogba had one saved in the 1-1 draw against Wolves.
