Manchester United youngster Brandon Williams looks set to join the newly promoted Norwich City on a season-long as the clubs are in advanced talks, according to Sky Sports.

Williams has been targeted by several Premier League clubs over the past year including Newcastle United and Southampton however Norwich seem to be edging closer to sealing this loan deal.

The Canaries have been looking to add more options to their defensive line and Williams' ability to play as a left-back and right-back has been a particular attraction for the manager Daniel Farke who hopes to complete the deal by the end of this week.

In recent transfer windows, Manchester United have been hesitant to allow Williams to leave as he has provided suitable cover for Aaron-Wan Bissaka, Luke Shaw and Alex Telles.

Last January, the United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer blocked Brandon Williams from going on loan as he felt that he was needed in the squad.

Earlier this year, when the United boss was asked about Williams, he said: "He's been working really hard and we don't have any more players that we feel will be going. Brandon has been really good lately, working really hard in the last few months and he's ready when the chance comes."

However, Diogo Dalot has returned from his loan spell with AC Milan and reportedly impressed Solskjaer and his staff as they look to give him a more prominent role within the squad.

When speaking about Dalot's time in Milan last March, he said: "Now he's kept fit all season; he's been available for them. He's playing at a big club, big expectations, [with the] great history of the club, so it's been a good year for him.

"So, of course, I've been very pleased with his development this season, and he's our player and we're looking forward to having him back."
