Since Angel Gomes stepped onto the Old Trafford pitch to make his debut last season, replacing Wayne Rooney to become the first Premier League player to be born in the 2000s, the 17-year-old has continued to impress for both club and country.

To reward the youngster for his fine form, Manchester United offered Gomes his first professional contract in December last year.

A number of clubs had reportedly expressed an interest in the player, including Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund, so United fans were delighted when the talented midfielder put pen to paper.

It has now been revealed how much Angel Gomes early per week and it's 'one of their biggest ever contracts for a youth player.'

Gomes picks up a hefty £17,000-a-week before squad and appearance bonuses and it will eventually rise to £25,000-a-week if he continues to progress, according to The Sun.

"The club have coughed up a lot of money for Angel to keep him here." the report states.

"He's got a series of bonuses and incentives in there as well. It is big money for this club to give out. We do not like to give our youngsters too much, too soon usually. It is a helluva deal for the young man."

Gomes himself expressed his delight after signing the deal, saying it was a proud moment:

"Manchester United has always been a big part of my life. I have been with the club since the age of six and it was a proud moment for me when I made my first team debut." he told MUTV.

"This club is renowned for giving home grown players opportunities to progress into the first team and that was a major factor in me signing my first professional contract at this great club. 'I am still young but am looking forward to continuing my development with the help of the coaching staff and I will take every opportunity that comes my way."
