Manchester City eased to a 2-0 win over Stoke City on Monday night after two goals from the magician David Silva, and now Pep Guardiola's side are just two wins away from another Premier League crown.

It was another dominant display from the visitors and after the game, a stat emerged that Manchester City could lift the Premier League trophy on the day of the Manchester derby if they record a victory against Everton later on in the month.

Back in February, If you looked at the average points totals that both clubs have acquired at this point in the season, it works out that Pep Guardiola's side will lift the title on April 7 - assuming the same rate of points accumulation from now till that date.

Manchester United were on course to get 81 points, based on their average of 2.12 points per game while Manchester City needed just 14 more points from 13 games to become champions - again based on the same rate of points until April 7th.

Now, Guardiola's side need just six points and they could win the Premier League in emphatic style in a few weeks time against Manchester United at the Etihad. Wow.

If City do win the league at the beginning of April, this would be the seventh occasion the league has been secured before May, according to The Daily Mail, with the earliest coming in 2001 when United secured the league on April 14.

That would obviously mean that Pep Guardiola's side would become the earliest-ever champions of England.

What a season it has been for Manchester City and to do it at the Etihad against Manchester United of all teams, would be the icing on top of the cake.

Will it happen? Let us know.
