Cristiano Ronaldo's lacklustre performance against Napoli in the Coppa Italia final has drawn some criticism from fans and critics, including former Italy striker Luca Toni.

Serie A champions Juventus were beaten 4-2 on penalties after a 0-0 draw in normal time and despite being one of the best penalty-takers in world football, Ronaldo didn't step up to take a penalty in the shoot-out defeat - to the surprise of many.

Gennaro Gattuso's side secured his first trophy as a manager after Arkadiusz Milik netted the winner from 12 yards and Napoli deservedly took home the silverware.

But for many, the big talking point was Ronaldo's performance. Step forward, Luca Toni.

The 43-year-old, former Fiorentina, Bayern Munich and Juventus striker claimed the five-time Ballon d'Or winner "can't even dribble" past his man, and is currently struggling with his conditioning.

"It's a defeat that also bears the signature of Cristiano Ronaldo," he told Rai Uno after the game.

"The Portuguese is in difficulty physically and he can't even dribble a man."

Toni wasn't the only person to have his say on Ronaldo's fitness.

Juventus manager Maurizio Sarri also aimed a not-so-subtle dig at the former Manchester United man after full-time.

"He (Ronaldo) is in the same shape as the others, like Paulo Dybala and Douglas Costa, he is lacking the sharpness to do what works best for him." he told RAI.

"I didn't say much to the players after the game. I was angry and disappointed just like them, so at these moments it's best to stay silent. We'll talk better tomorrow morning."
