And Villa suffered an early setback in their third-round clash at Villa Park as Liverpool star Sadio Mane headed home the opener.
However, Barry rose to the occasion late in the first half to hand Villa a fighting chance in the second half.
Villa 'keeper Akos Onodi played the ball out to Callum Rowe as he carried the ball forward and found the space to play a stunning through-ball to Barry.
Barry, who was a former Barcelona youngster, pounced on the ball and sprinted down the pitch as he curled a sensational strike past Caoimhin Kelleher.
Fans wasted no time in flocking to Twitter to praise the 17-year-old forward for his equaliser against Liverpool.
"Louie Barry is a nice striker. Aston Villa should keep him for future use," one fan tweeted.
A second said: "Ice cold. Louie Barry, remember the name."
While a third posted: "In fairness to Louie Barry, a great run and finish. And what a moment for him!"
And a fourth added: "Reminder that Louie Barry is 17 and was a year in La Masia. He might be special."
Liverpool and Aston Villa are 1-1 at Villa Park going into half-time.
