Gary Lineker has responded to Liverpool fans calling him out for his celebration over Lionel Messi's goal, and he's refused to apologise for his wild reaction.

The BT Sport presenter took some heat for his celebratory reaction to Messi's unbelievable free-kick against Liverpool in the Champions League.

Lineker and Rio Ferdinand went mad inside the BT Sport studio as they watched in amazement.

However, Lineker's reaction didn't go down too well with Liverpool fans who voiced their anger on social media.

Though Lineker, who played for Barcelona between 1986 to 1989, has refused to apologise for his celebration.

"Seem to have upset a few @LFC fans by celebrating greatness last night. Admittedly it was a bit cringe, but as a former player who loves @FCBarcelona I make no apologies for dancing to the diminutive Dios," he wrote on Twitter.

It's no secret that Lineker is a big, big fan of Messi who continued his goal-scoring heroics in Europe.

The Barcelona skipper has now scored 12 goals in the competition following his brace against Liverpool in the Champions League semi-final first leg.

The Catalan club will be hoping to reach a Champions League final for the first time since the 2014/15 season.
