Jordan Henderson Will Captain England Against Slovenia

Following the breaking news this afternoon that Gareth Southgate would be dropping England captain Wayne Rooney to the bench for tomorrow's World Cup qualifier with Slovenia, speculation was rife about who would inherit the armband from the Manchester United man.

It has now been confirmed that Jordan Henderson will be the player to replace Rooney as skipper.

Henderson does have previous experience of taking an armband from a long established captain, having replaced Steven Gerrard as Liverpool captain following Gerrard's departure to LA Galaxy, last year.

However, it must be noted that Henderson hasn't permanently been made captain. Yet given Rooney's fading fortunes, is it time for the Liverpool man to assume the role full time? Have your say in the comments section, below.
